HQ gets a carpark makeover from Volvo

Staff at air ambulance HQ are grateful to Volvo after two days of hard work by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia employees saw our carpark transformed.

The industrious volunteers rolled up their sleeves to create some much-needed carparking and storage space at our head office in Princethorpe, Warwickshire – just a few miles away from the Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia Dealerpoint at Siskin Parkway West, Coventry.

The work was carried out over two days and involved a team of eight senior manager volunteers. They cleared a number of outhouses and installed storage racking, then cleared out, dug out and levelled a 6,000 square foot area to make a carpark.

David Sullivan, the managing director for Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia, said: “We wanted to help Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, who do so much great work saving lives.”

He added: “At Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia, we are very keen to work as a team doing some charity work and give something back to the local community.”

As well as the hours of back-breaking work the team spent digging by hand, they also operated all the heavy machinery themselves, including a mini-excavator and a road roller.

All services and equipment used were generously donated by SM Plant, Cwik Skips and Bartlett’s Haulage from Binley Industrial Estate. While SM Plant of Rugby are a customer of Volvo Construction Equipment, Cwik Skips and Bartlett’s are customers of Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia, Coventry. Bartlett’s Haulage also very kindly donated and delivered, using a Volvo truck of course, the 60 tonnes of hard-core used to lay the surface of the car park at the air ambulance HQ.

Andy Williamson, CEO of the charity, praised the company for their help: “Thanks to the whole management team for the magnificent work you completed for us. Your efforts are truly appreciated. The work you did will help our efficiency in hosting far more visitors and give us better storage space. This saves money and prevents us having to spend funds on upkeep. All of which means we can spend more on our services.”
