Inner Wheel keeps hope alive

Inner Wheel District 22, one of the largest women’s service organisations in the world covering Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, has raised over £5K for the Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA).nnLinda Elkin chose to support our charity last year when she became District Chairman of Inner Wheel.nn”I chose to support TCAA for several reasons,” said Linda. “Being a Mum and a Grandma it’s reassuring to know that if any of my Grandchildren required this wonderful life saving service, it’s there. The time saved in transporting a sick child to the specialist treatment they require is unbelievable.nn“Everyone hopes not to need it but to know it is there is fantastic. I have also been lucky enough to hear several presentations explaining about the work, which convinced me TCAA was the right charity to support and meant that I could spread the awareness”.nnThe inspirational women raised £5,850.48 over a 12-month period through various fundraising events. The main fundraiser was a ladies afternoon tea at the races where they donned their best outfits and bet on wooden horses.nnThey also held several raffles with good prizes donated by local companies and the 27 Clubs in District 22 all helped by making a donation, with events that ranged from fashion shows to coffee mornings.nn”The main thing was that all of these events had four things in common; fundraising, friendship, fun and food. What more can you ask for? It was a real pleasure to raise so much money for such a worthy cause” added Linda.nnLee Bunting, TCAA Community Fundraiser, said “What a superb effort. Everyone at TCAA are incredibly appreciative of all of the support Linda and Inner Wheel District 22 have shown us. It is always heart-warming and humbling to see people raise money for us, and it’s even more special when you see the fun they have whilst doing it.”nn
