Ben’s 24 hour cycling challenge

Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) is saying a big thank you to Ben Smith, a student from Warwickshire, for raising £2,400 after racing 300 miles in just 24 hours.

Ben, who describes himself as a highly active sportsman, wanted something challenging to do in summer 2014. He found the challenge he was searching for in Ride 24, a cycling endurance event that sees participants ride from London to Newcastle in a single day.

Taking his trusty racing bike ‘Maria’ – so-called because she is the same colours as the Italian flag – Ben completed the gruelling ride in late August 2014.

He decided to race for us as, in his own words: “This charity provides a vital service, and deserves to be supported to the fullest, it is all well and good being cured at a hospital, but if you can’t get there it doesn’t matter.”

So thank you very much to Ben, and to anyone thinking about racing or fundraising for us, give us a call and we’ll help you get in touch with your local fundraising coordinator.
