Donkey derby raises £500
Coventry’s Leofric Lions Club, long term supporters of Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA), have raised a wonderful £500 for our lifesaving service.
The funds were raised at the Club’s annual Donkey Derby, billed as ‘Coventry’s answer to Royal Ascot’. The derby featured racing donkeys and donkey rides combined with a traditional village fete.
Michael Hinett, a volunteer speaker for WNAA, was presented with the donation on 14th January by Ian Stevenson, club president.
Ian said: “We wish the cheque could have been for a greater amount, but the event succumbed to the British weather.”
WNAA is saying a big thank you to Ian and everyone who took part in the derby for their excellent contribution to keeping their lifesaving service flying.
We will be at the event again this year, which is held on 5th September, so pop it in your diary for a day of good fun and support for your local air ambulance.
