Thank You Barton Charity Tournament
The Children’s Air Ambulance are saying a big thank you to Barton Charity Tournament.
The club ran a tournament and, with the help of a donation from Barton SMBC, were able to raise a fantastic £800.00.
Richard Allen, a volunteer for The Children’s Air Ambulance would like to thank Yamaha UK for funding the purchase of trophies, all who donated raffle prizes, Umpire Martin, Alex and Chris from North End who provided tea all day long, Dave for selling raffle tickets, Barton’s SMBC for the use of equipment and the players who helped on the day. Finally, a big thank you to all for digging deep into pockets to raise a fabulous sum.
The final of the tournament was a nail biting event between the Kingfishers, skippered by Rob Edwards and the Happy Foursome skippered by Tony Sewell. The Happy Foursome looked to be in control going into the penultimate end only to drop a four and bring the score to 6-6 going into the last end. This was a close fought contest with Rob drawing into the jack with his last bowl which looked to have secured the win but Tony came back with his last bowl and the last of the tournament to just ease Rob’s bowl off the jack, coming to rest to take the shot and the title. Well done to both teams for such an exciting final.
Thank you again from everyone at the Children’s Air Ambulance – without you, we wouldn’t be able to continue our lifesaving work.
