Flying Little Hearts Appeal

Help keep little hearts like Elsie’s flying

Last December Damian and his wife Becky were over the moon when Elsie arrived safely into the world. She was their first child and they were absolutely besotted. Little did they know that just a month later she would be fighting for her life.

Elsie was diagnosed with transposition of the great arteries and desperately needed specialist surgery to save her life but that care was far away in Bristol and the fastest way was by air.

That’s when the Children’s Air Ambulance was called in.

The flight took just 30 minutes from North Devon District Hospital to Bristol Children’s Hospital. The journey by road would have taken two hours.

Two days later she had complex open heart surgery and is now on the rod to recovery. Find out more about her incredible story.

“Without the helicopter my little girl would’ve died – no two ways about it. Our family would’ve just been lost – I don’t know how you’d come back from something like that. That’s why I’m supporting the Children’s Air Ambulance.”
