Watch our little patient Bella go behind the scenes
We are featuring three of our amazing patient stories in our new Children’s Air Ambulance campaign for “Their Life Above All”.
Bella and her dad, Grant arrived on set in south London to come and see the photoshoot telling Bela’s real life story.
Bella’s parents has just put her down to sleep and started relaxing when from downstairs, they heard Bella give a high-pitched, horrible shriek. Grant ran upstairs immediately, but found Bella unresponsive and not breathing. She started breathing again when Grant picked her up, but her skin was grey, and they immediately rushed her into hospital.
The Ipswich hospital immediately knew that Bella needed specialist help and arranged for her to be taken to paediatric care at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
Working with Embrace Yorkshire & Humber Infant & Children’s Transport Service, we transported Bella from Cambridge to Leeds to get the specialist surgery she needed in just 57 minutes, a journey that was to take her parents nearly four hours by road.
It is through the support of people like you who donate that we are able to keep flying and be there for sick children like Bella.
Lucy, Bella’s mum said, “When I look back now, I don’t know if Bella would be here, were it not for the Children’s Air Ambulance.”
