Spring Appeal

We’re gearing up for moving day

This year we’re excited to be launching our two new airbases.

As we double the size of our capability we need your support to make these plans a reality. Please help us reach more children who need us and give what you can today.

Your support has helped us get this far and your continued support will help us to improve our services in a number of ways.

  • Right now our helicopter is based in Coventry. It’s convenient for everywhere and nowhere all at the same time. But by having two helicopters at two different locations, not only will we be much closer to our NHS clinical partner teams, but closer to the hospitals where we fly our little patients to.

Flight times

  • Our two locations mean that we will reduce travel times for our precious cargo. For critically ill children the less time spent outside the safety of a hospital the better. For many of them, every second really does count.

Back up

  • If one of our helicopters needs to be taken offline for essential aviation checks, then our other helicopter can step in as back up. So no child needs to be turned away.

Your support is vital to helping us reach more children like George so please give what you can today.

Meet cheeky little George

At the start of his little life he spent month-after-month having operation after operation. He was suffering from a heart condition, alongside a long list of other health problems.

George needed two major operations and the best place for this would be Great Ormond Street Hospital in London – a trip of over 200 miles from his hospital bed in Leeds.

And today although George has got a long way to go and will need more operations this year – thanks to your support he’s doing much better and is at home with his mum, dad, older brother and two sisters.

“Without the Children’s Air Ambulance he would have had to travel four to five hours in an ambulance on the motorway where you’ve got traffic and possibility of an accident.

“We were lucky he was quite stable but if he had been worse there was a chance he might not had made it if something had happened half way down the road. The Children’s Air Ambulance is an absolute lifesaver.”

– Kirsty, George’s mum

Because of the generosity of supporters like you we flew George from Leeds to London in just an hour. A journey that took three hours for his parents. Please help us to reach more children by donating what you can today.

We are the only helicopter emergency transfer service in the country dedicated to children.
